Lokshilpa O Karukriti Mela at Jorasanko Thakurbari

The West Bengal State Akademi Of Dance Drama Music And Visual Arts, Rabindra Bharati University will hold the Lokshilpa O Karukriti Mela at the Jorasanko Thakurbari from May 6 to 8, between 8 am and 8 pm daily.

Arround 60 artists, craftspersons and weavers from 15 districts of West Bengal themselves the  present with their attractive traditional arts and crafts –

  • patachitras, mats, and decorative items made with coarse grass and buffalo horns from Paschim Midnapur district;
  • traditional puppets from Dakshin 24-Parganas district; batik products from Howrah district;
  • kantha-stitch items and wood carvings from Burdwan district;
  • dokra jewellery, shola crafts and batik products from Birbhum district;
  • traditional clay dolls from Nadia district;
  • Baluchari sarees, dokra crafts and terracotta items from Bankura district;
  • Chhau dance masks from Purulia district;
  • bamboo crafts from Malda district;
  • jute crafts from Murshidabad district;
  • wooden masks, bamboo crafts and dhokra items from Dakshin Dinajpur district;
  • Polia clay models from Uttar Dinajpur district;
  • wooden handicrafts and Tamang handicrafts from Alipurduar district;
  • shitalpatis from Cooch Behar district;
  • and last but not the least, wood carvings from Darjeeling district.
