Titan Eye Plus a leading brand in the Eyewear market in India has planned to expand its supply chain and its retail footprint in Tier-III and Tier-IV cities after covering almost all major Tier – I and Tier –II cities, as a part of expansion plan elegant frames and lens will be manufactured under their Karnataka facilities.
As strategic planning for better turn around and delivery time Key lens making facility at Bengaluru with new smaller regional units will be a centre of excellence. At off now, two such smaller facilities have come up – one each in Noida and Kolkata – and a third at Mumbai is expected to be operational by July,2016.
Bhaskar Bhat, MD, of Titan Company said this new manufacturing unit has already enough raw materials to supply the finished product less than 24 hours. Even Andaman & Nicobar Island will come under this region. East and North East will get the lens in less than 48 hours. For instance, a frame ordered in Kolkata would take 4-5 days for delivery. Post the new facility it will be delivered within 24-48 hours.
Mr. Bhaskar Bhat, MD, Titan Company Limited, inaugurated the new facility. Speaking on the occasion, he said,
“The East region is a growing market and a key region for Titan Eyeplus. We have set up this state-of-the-art lens manufacturing unit in Madhyamgram to meet the increasing needs of the region. This facility will enable faster customer service for the entire region, using on-block technology to reduce lead time wherein even progressive lens requirements can be churned out in a single day.”
The brand has indicated plans to launch other such satellite facilities in the coming months. The facility at Madhyamgram was prioritized over other such facilities because it enables the Company to cater to a difficult terrain. The company has so far been catering to all lens requirements from their lens manufacturing facility at Chikkaballapur in Karnataka.

“Each smaller unit, called satellite lens manufacturing facility, is coming up at a cost of Rs. 4-5 crore and will have the capacity of manufacturing 400 pieces per day,” said Ronnie Talati, Chief Executive Officer, Titan Co Ltd Eyewear Division, on the side lines of the launch of its Madyamgram, Northern part of greater Kolkata facility.
Ms. Rajeshwari Srinivasan, AVP & Regional Business Head & Mr. N.Jagannath, Head Supply Chain were also present at the occasion at Kolkata.
When we asked Mr. Bhat about the quality of the lens, He said “Water resistances, UV protection, Protection from radiation from electronic display all are available with our lens. Even we are ready to compete with market leaders of International scope”.
