West Bengal new IT and Electronics minister Mr. Bratya Basu on Tuesday held a meeting with representatives of the leaders in the industry to gain the confidence and get the fresh investment.
Fifteen top notch IT giants including Hewlett Packard Enterprice, Wipro Limited, ITC Limited, HCL Services Limited, PriceWaterHouse Coopers, Cognizant Technology Solutions and CII Eastern region.
In depth discussions was on for issues about various policies of the state government.
Industry leaders of the IT majors have expressed their suggestions that would help the state government to fetch fresh investments.
Discussion related to start ups also a major focus point. During Bengal Global Business Summit, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had requested the IT&ITES firms to help with training to the eligible youth under start-up venture.
Minister Bratya Basu later said the discussions and suggestions revived will help to make West Bengal the best IT destination in India in association with the guidelines of the Chief Minister have taken place in Tuesday’s meeting.
Wipro SEZ issues also discussed as the minister told the press. He confirmed that the meeting with Google is yet to be fixed.
It is learnt that the representatives of almost all the companies have urged the IT minister that bring in an industry friendly policy that would attract more investment in the state. Sources said that there were talks on the facilities that can be given to attract investment of more IT companies in the state.
Wipro invested Rs 75 crore to set up its centre in Rajarhat early this year overruled the claim that the IT giant was trying to pull out of West Bengal. The IT park of Wipro will come up on 50 acres of land. Earlier the company had urged to give SEZ status.
