Amal Dutta better known as Amal Da, of Kolkata Maidan a legendary coach of golden era of Kolkata Football league for Two of “Tin Pradhan” major three. East Bengal and Mohunbagan AC he coached along with India and Bengal Team. P.K. and Amal Dutta was the star fight among the titans of Kolkata league.

He was the pioneer in introducing the modern football tactics in Kolkata and Indian Football.

Surely an Era has been ended with death of Amal Da, as long as football in Kolkata is there Amal Dutta will be remembered by all.

He was suffering from diseases and was almost bed ridden for long time. All football lovers are trying to reach his home at Baguiati for last tribute.

Biography:

Amal Dutta is a football coach in India. He was born in West Bengal, India.

Playing career
In 1950s he played in midfield for East Bengal. He also represented India in the 1954 Asian Games at Manila.

Coaching career
After retirement as a player he went to England for a one-year FA coaching course, where he was taught by the renowned Walter Winter bottom.On returning to India his first major assignment was to coach Railways in 1960 for the Santosh trophy. His first assignment with a big club was in 1963 with East Bengal midway through the Calcutta league. He remained as coach with East Bengal in 1964 but a year later, he took the first of several bold steps in his chequered career. He quit the security of his job in the Indian Railways and opted to become a full time football coach, the first-ever in India and a feat for which he has received little recognition.

In the early 1960s he retired from the Indian Railways to become a full-time coach, a bold step in the amateur football scene of that time in India. Thus he is known as the first professional coach of India . In his long coaching career he was associated with premier football clubs of India, and also became coach of India.

PK & Amal Dutta vocal fight over and before the Match was a must get news for any sports journalist during 90s. East Bengal & Mohun Bangan like fight between the fans of both the legends was a myth in maidan of Kolkata.

He is renowned for his bold and innovative tactics and formation. Amal Dutta died on 10 July 2016 at the age of almost 87.
