Sri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Hon’bl Governor of West Bengal inaugurated the Santragachi Netaji Milani Sharadotsav 2016 yesterday. Prasun Banerjee-Member of Parliament, Arup Roy- MIC, Department of Co-operation, Rajib Banerjee – MIC, Department of Irrigation and Waterways, Brojomohan Mazumdar- MLA, Jotu Lahiri and Sushanta Chandra, President, Santragachi Netaji Milani Puja Committee were also present during the auspicious program.
Discarding mummery and moving away from the theme hogwash, Santragachi Netaji Milani, strong admirer of traditional values, and whose idol this year was crafted by Mohan Banshi Rudrapal, stick to the pious and cultural aspect.
From Sasthi to Navami, they organize competitions for local residents, like Sit-n-Draw competition, Dhunuchi Naach, Pradip Projjalan and many more including various Cultural Programs where in local kids and members take part either through dance or drama. Various socially motivating plays and other events are also organized by the local residents and eminent artists alike and During Saptami, Ashtami and Navami, a Community get together is organized.
While in Ashtami is strictly reserved for vegetarian Dishes, on Saptami and Navami Non vegetarian dishes are served.
Sushanta hoped that “ this festive season usher in much needed bring peace and harmony to all”.
