ICCR EMPANELS MIRANDA CHOUDHURY
ICCR, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, empanels Miranda Choudhury, a noted folk singer of Assam as its reference artiste.
While bestowing the decision of the concerned office to Miranda, Shri Amarendra Khatua, Director General of ICCR, in his letter, states that “I am pleased to inform you that the concerned Expert Sub-Committee of the Council has selected you for empanelment in the ICCR’s Reference Panel of Artistes.’’
It has been come to know that though inclusion of her name in the panel is essentially for reference purposes, ICCR takes noble endeavour to sponsor as many artistes as possible within the parameters of the Council’s overseas activities and financial constraints.
It may be noted that, being an upgraded singer of All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra, also a common face for may satellite channels of Guwahati, Miranda performed a large number of stage shows in and outside Assam. She also sung for some folk albums, produced by various producers.
Notwithstanding such appropriate step of the ICCR will certainly bring hope and enthusiasm to the minds of the melodious folk singers like Miranda to scatter the fragrance of our rich cultural heritage crossing the political boundaries of our motherland.
We are proud to have Miranda as one of our well wisher and Editor for Folk and Cultural Affairs. Congratulation to Miranda from IBG NEWS team.
