Bengal government to create 1,200 new posts in various departments

In order to create more job opportunities, it has been decided in Monday’s Cabinet meeting that 1,200 new posts will be made in different departments of the state government.

Partha Chatterjee, the state Parliamentary Affairs minister, said: “It has been passed in the Cabinet to create a 1,000 more posts in different offices and colleges. As many as 200 drivers and helpers will be recruited for assistance by the state Transport department.”

It may be mentioned that the state government has created thousands of job opportunities in the past six years. In June, the state government had announced 3,754 new posts. The decision to create new posts was passed in the Cabinet meeting and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has directed the state to complete the recruitment process as soon as possible.

As many as 267 posts were created for eight coastal police stations as a step to ensure security and safety of thousands of tourists visiting Digha and Mandarmoni. Around 444 posts were also created at Health and Family Welfare department and it included 187 posts at the new medical college at Raiganj.

As many as 158 posts have been created at Ramrick Das Harlalka Hospital, which is an annexure to Bangur Institute of Neuroscience. Ninety-nine posts were created at Tufanganj Mental Health Hospital, where the number of beds was increased to 150 from 33. To create job opportunities for women, as many as 2700 lady constable posts were created.
