Now cultivation of boroli fish in south Bengal too

Now cultivation of boroli fish in south Bengal too

The tasty silver-coloured boroli fish, native to north Bengal, is now going to be cultivated in south Bengal too.

The State Government has taken this initiative. Initially, the fish would be cultivated in two fish ponds in Bardhaman belonging to State Fish Development Corporation (SFDC), which is in charge of the project.

Care would be taken to recreate the condition of the water in the areas of the northern part of the state where the boroli is found naturally, so that the taste remains the same.

The ponds would be made deeper, so that if the fish feel too hot, they can go deeper into the colder water. Besides, there is more oxygen in hilly rivers and streams; so special motors would be installed to produce oxygen.
