Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers celebrates the arrival of Durga, the Goddess of power and strength with ‘Durga & Friends’ in the presence of Indian artistic gymnast Dipa Karmakar

Kolkata, 14th October 2018: Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers, the heritage jewellery house celebrated the arrival of Durga, the Goddess of power and strength with “Durga & Friends” in the august presence of Dipa Karmakar (the first Indian female gymnast who won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Asian Gymnastics Championships and also finished fifth at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, both firsts for her country) along with her coach Mr. Bisweshwar Nandi today at their Rashbehari Avenue Store. Mr. Rupak Saha and Mrs. Arpita Saha, Directors, Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers were present to address the media.

The event witnessed a performance of ‘Durga’ on the joyous occasion celebrating the onset of Durga Puja and showcases the power of love and care. The event was ended by a felicitation ceremony of the artistic gymnast Dipa Karmakar for her immense contribution in the Indian Sport.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rupak Saha, Director, Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers said, “We are really very ecstatic to have the ace gymnast Dipa Karmakar and coach Bisweshwar Nandi here today. It made for a perfect setting to connect with everyone on this festive celebration that celebrates ‘Shakti’. The golden girl is here today to celebrate the festivity with us. I believe she will be an inspiration to all the little ‘Durga’ to be as powerful as her by achieving success in their life that she made her feet in the arena of sport and that of life. The ace gymnast Dipa Karmakar said, “I am extremely grateful to be present here today on the joyous occasion of Durga Puja. Durga Puja is a festival known for its exceptional vibrancy, colors and spirit of celebrations bringing everyone together. Today, I am here to be a part of the celebration and personally I feel very happy to see smile on the faces of these little ‘Durgas’. Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers is doing a great job by giving an opportunity to all the children to become a person with full of positive vibrant in future”.

About Durga: ‘Durga’ are the orphan and single parent girl children staying at ‘Chitrangada’, an orphanage. There are twenty one ‘Durga’ in the orphanage right now between the age of 6 – 16 Years. They all are in between standard 2nd – 10th. Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers and the friends of ‘Durga’ have taken the responsibility of their education, extra- curricular activities, health check-ups, yoga, food and well being.
