Kolkata, November 1, 2018: In an effort to lay the groundwork for building a sustainable mobility ecosystem, Ola Mobility Institute, the research and outreach arm of Ola, one of the world’s largest ride-hailing platforms, today released India’s first Ease of Moving Index, 2018. As part of report findings, Kolkata ranks the highest in terms of affordability of public transportation with 80% of commuters finding Kolkata’s public transport reasonable and affordable. The report seeks to offer a comprehensive action plan for cities to further strengthen their public transportation systems and improve the overall state of mobility.

The report was released by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister, Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, in the presence of Bhavish Aggarwal, Co-founder and CEO of Ola, amongst other key dignitaries.

These cities were selected on five parameters – Scale, Character, Culture, Economy and Geography. Considering 50+ parameters that have been segmented into People, Infrastructure and Sustainability as the pillars of evaluation, the report assesses the accessibility, efficiency and safety of current transportation facilities.
