FANTASTIC 50- AMITABH BACHCHAN OVERWHELMED AFTER GETTING A UNIQUE CALENDAR FROM THE CITY OF JOY, KOLKATA
27 February,2019, Kolkata: Kauushik Events, The Dreamers Music PR Agency, Wisdom tree launched a unique calendar “FANTASTIC 50” to celebrate Big B Amitabh Bachchan’s 50 glorious years in industry featuring 50 film posters at Wisdom Tree ( 20 Dover Road) a new cafe in city in presence of Archivist Devajit Bandyopadhyay, musician Mallar Ghosh, singer Mallika Ghosh, Chandrima Bhattacharya, interdisciplinary artiste Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee, choreographer Sudarshan Chakravorty, film maker Ranjay, actress Kankana Chakraborty, actor Bidyut Das, Kaushik Ghosh of Kauushik Events, Sonali Sarkar of Wisdom Tree and so on.On 15 February,1969 Amitabh Bachchan signed his debut film while released on 7 November in the same year. To mark the occasion this special calendar has been planned. A few days ago Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his twitter handle ” 49 years ago I came to the city of dreams and signed my first film .. “Saat Hindustani’ on Feb 15, 1969 .” Interestingly, the man himself Amitabh Bachchan replies after knowing about the initiative, ” Overwhelmed..!Thank you”.
Noted film poster collector Sudipta Chanda who hosted a unique exhibition BACHCHAN NAMA to celebrate Sri Amitabh Bachchan’s 75 th birth anniversary last yearat Jamini Roy Art Gallery ( ICCR ),Kolkata through more than 50 odd original film posters of his films , has conceived and contributed photographs for this unique calendar. He has been collecting film posters from his college days. It’s his passion. He loves those artworks. Though he is from journalism background and currently into public relations.( www.thedreamers.in ) He still collects old film posters and have more than 1200 odd titles in his collection. Kaushik Ghosh is very much into events planning , an artiste coordinator, has a soft spot for Big B since his tender age.
FANTASTIC 50 deals popular films like Sholay, Shaan, Don, Zanjeer, Deewar, Majboor, Coolie even not so popular films like Sanjog, Bandhe Haath, Adalat,Kasauti covering a high range of verity with difference sizes as 20/30.30/40, 2 Sheet posters. Those were the days when artiste used to draw posters manually and lithography was the only method of printing posters. To draw attention of public different designs of posters of the same film used to initiate. Those are simply collector’s delight. These posters are very much rare now a days. Definitely it would be a collector’s delight.
Amitabh Bachchan fans fondly call him Big B had completed 75 years of his birth last year. A journey to remember with high regards indeed. From no one to the top being a trendsetter movie icon he is still walking tall. He even experienced many ups and downs but never gave up. He made his debut with Saat Hindustani released in 1969. The Calendar features fifty odd posters of Big B films .Each months carries three posters while it’s cover showcases fourteen posters, altogether fifty posters to celebrate his fifty years of journey in industry. Eventually it features poster of Saat Hindustani (1969) while it also features poster of the recent release 102 Not Out( 2018).
