The final day of Dum Dum Marga Sangeet Utsav 2019 offered an unforgettable evening with Sarod Maestro Ustad Amzad Ali Khan and other pillars of Indian Classical Music.
Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, also known as V. M. Bhatt is a Hindustani classical music instrumentalist who plays the Mohan Veena (slide guitar). Shri Bhatt explained how he is connected with Kolkata as his Guru Late Pandit Ravishankar legend of Sitar and many friends and memories in Kolkata. His Mohan Veena was awesome but when he sang the gazal “Aaj Jane Ki Zeed naa karo” the master stole the heart of the audience.
Kaushiki Chakraborty with her vocal made the justification to her fame at ease. While a team of young sarod player Indrayuddh Majumder son of Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumder was a sweet experience along with the team.
But the evening was surely waiting for the Legendary Sarod player to start. Ustad Amzad Ali Khan greeted the people and made it a point that late evening will turn into a never-ending demand from the audience.
Ustad dedicated his evening to all Sarod Masters of Kolkata who he admired throughout his life. Ustad played some mesmerizing notes from Darbari Kanara of Tansen, Meera ki Mallar , Hans Kinkini with Megh. But he stole the audience of Kolkata with a composition on Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore songs with Khabbaj Raag.
Some moments you can not explain only can experience, Please excuse if my words are not able to explain the enchanting moments the evening has offered to Kolkata.
