Bongio Samaj Bengaluru, South India’s largest Bengalee organisation is back in action when entire country is under lockdown for pandemic corona virus. Bongio Samaj Bengaluru has taken up a mission to FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER and helping stranded and distressed families visited Bangalore for medical treatment and also helping migrant labours. Bongio Samaj Bengaluru has released a HELPLINE and also formed a Task Force team to reach out to distressed families immediately with relief. Volunteers are working closely with Karnataka Government, BBMP, Police and other local administrations to distribute free food and arranging free shelters for these stranded families.
Till date Bongio Samaj received distressed calls from more than 10,000 people who are basically from various districts of West Bengal and Tripura stuck in Bangalore and Mysore due to this countrywide lockdown. Officials of Karnataka Government are in touch with Bongio Samaj team and supporting all such families. Bongio Samaj President Mr Sourav Mukherjee said “Many MPs of West Bengal like Soumitra Khan, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Dr Sukanta Mazumdar called us and requested to support many such stranded distressed families from their districts and other districts of West Bengal. Our Task Force team is reaching out to every single families and ensuring they receive free food and free ration. We are proud that we are able to help more than 10,000 people till now during this critical situation.” Mr. Sandeep Shome, General Secretary of Bongio Samaj mentioned that “many bengali associations of Bangalore like North Bangalore Cultural Samiti (NBCS), Prakriti Foundation, Jagriti Bongio Cultural Samiti (JBCA), United Friends Club, Whitefield Cultural Association also joined hand and supporting us in this mission. We are also thankful to Karnataka State Government, Chief Minister BS Yeddiyurappaji, Union Minister Sadananda Gowdaji, Kadugodi MLA Shri Arvind Limbavalliji, BBMP Commissioner, Police Department, District Collector Offices and other administrative offices to extent support to us without which we would not have managed to extend help such huge number of people”.
Bongio Samaj Bengaluru also requests Government of West Bengal to co-operate in this mission and help all these distressed families.
