DURGA PUJA CELEBRATION 2020

Bongio Samaj Bengaluru team met with Karnataka Chief Secretary Shri TM Vijay Bhaskar on 28th September 2020 and appealed to release SOP for Durga Puja. Chief Secretary who is also The Chairman of Disaster Management Department of Karnataka State accepted the appeal and commented to look into the matter,

Disaster Management of Karnataka Government released its SOP pertaining to Dussera and Durga Puja on 14th October, 2020 allowing Bengali of Bangalore to celebrate Durga puja from 17th to 26th October 2020 allowing 100 people limit at a time. On this occasion Mr. K Umapathy Joint Secretary of Disaster Management Department of Karnataka handed over the hardcopy SOP to Mr. Sourav Mukherjee on 14h October evening.

Bongio Samaj Bengaluru was in continuous touch with Government officials for this SOP and had several meetings with Joint Secretary, Principal Secretary and other officials in this regard.

In addition, Bongio Samaj Bengaluru requested BBMP (City Corporation), Bangalore Police and Fire Safety Department to provide single window approval for all listed Durga Puja Committees of the town. Acknowledging the appeal, BBMP issued single approval on 16th October, 2020 for 32 Puja Committees and also provided guidelines as proposed by Bongio Samaj Bengaluru.

Durga Puja committees appreciated this move of Bongio Samaj Bengaluru as it saves lot of their time for obtaining permissions.

Like every year, Bongio Samaj Bengaluru is also organizing virtual “Sharod Samman” but this year we will be focusing more of Community safety apart from Best Murthy and Pandal.
