Customs Officers Arrest 1 person and Seize Gold Worth Rs 80,79,378

Officers from Commissionerate of Customs (Preventive), West Bengal intercepted a suspicious person and arrested him after interrogation from the fifth floor of a building at Nalini Sheth Street, Kolkata on Friday, April 9, 2021. The Customs officers also recovered six pieces of gold-two bearing the inscription of foreign origin and weighing 1693.79 grams in total, valued at Rs. 80,79,378. This apart, Rs. 20,40,000 in cash was recovered from that venue.
During interrogation, it was known that he is a resident of Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal and his age is 40 years. Further investigation is on to nab the mastermind and find out the reason for storing the seized gold along with the money in cash at that place.
