The bun-choice for burgers became magically wide with Barcelos bringing black, red and white options with the advent of its first outlet in Eastern India.
Influenced mainly by Portuguese and Middle Eastern cuisine, this South African brand established in 1993, having 150-plus restaurants in 18 countries literally has secret sauces up its sleeves. Basically the play is with four peri-peri sauces, Mild,Veri, Supa and Tangy Lemon – proprietary recipes – thus imported from SA itself – and is available at the table and in the kitchen. The kitchen sauces are raw and it imparts that generic piquant flavor to the food.
Speaking to IBG NSA, Rohit Malhotra, Business Head,India, said “ Colored and healthy burgers are completely a novel concept and I know Calcutta will take to the cuisine very well,”
Signature dishes include their flame-grilled chicken, Chicken Espetada, Peri-Peri Paneer Kebab, various Wraps and of course the colored buns which are supposed to be healthy but due to not-yet-availability we couldn’t taste.
Décor of the joint includes the famous emblematic rooster, Galo de Barcelos, complete with its bts story behind on the wall.
