Kolkata Jewellery & Gem Fair 2018 gears up to showcase exquisite ornaments from the East

~The 4th edition of East India’s largest jewellery expo by UBM India

Kolkata, 3rd April’2018: UBM India, the largest organizer of jewellery fairs in India, today announced the fourth international B2B jewellery fair in Eastern India – the Kolkata Jewellery & Gem Fair ( KJGF ) which is scheduled to be held between 7th – 9th April, 2018 at AMMERF, New Town, Rajarhat, Kolkata. The expo, well-supported by the Government of West Bengal and Calcutta Gems & Jewellery Welfare Association (CG&JWA), is anticipated to attract over 100+ exhibitors from across the country as well as abroad, sourcing delegates internationally from countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Australia, Turkey & UAE.

The three-day premium jewellery expo is poised to promote and trigger the trade for the jewellery industry in India. Being the largest fine jewellery event in the region, KJGF 2018 is expected to shine with the stalwarts of Bengal and international fine jewellery manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, dealers, importers and exporters of Diamond, Gold, Silver, Gemstones, Machinery and Packaging & Allied services. The expo is suitably timed, just prior to the seasonal festivities such as Poila Baishakh, the Bengali New Year, and the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, as well as the summer wedding season,.

After a successful stint in 2017, KJGF 2018 promises to provide a significant platform for buyers and suppliers to connect, network, exchange ideas, discover upcoming trends and generate business opportunities. As a forerunner of the expo, Road Shows and Shop-to-Shop activities are being held across East India in cities such as Patna, Cuttack, Bhubaneshwar, Ranchi, Lucknow, Kolkata and many more. The expo is one of the most popular trade fairs amongst the gem and jewellery industry of Kolkata and witnesses the largest showcasing of traditional Bengal gold and diamond jewellery.

The premium trade fair will showcase a rich agglomeration of exquisite and handcrafted jewellery that the state is renowned for. These splendid and intricately designed jewellery include statement sets in diamonds, golds, silvers and pearls along with gemstones and related products. Apart from traditional bridal pieces like Chandbalis, Choor, Ratanchoor, Mantasha, Saptalahari, Hansulis, Nabaratna sets, Kundan, Polki and Meenakari sets, among others, a significant amount of gemstones in Kolkata is also used for astrological purposes in the form of Graharatna jewellery.

The retail market of the city and its suburbs is a prominent one. Although old family jewellers continue to receive patronage, the new global order is decidedly about superior customer experience, ease of transactions, and cultural rootedness, with an eye on international trends, thus encouraging the presence of organised retailers in the market. There is a subtle change in the jewellery trends, where a piece of jewellery elicits a more personal statement. Millennials, in general, are moving from stereotypes to classy, affordable bespoke pieces, dominated by varied shades of jewellery materials. Accordingly, the trend of remodelling heirloom jewellery into customised pieces and a bias towards lightweight gold jewellery is observed.

The notable exhibitors participating in this year’s edition include Royal Chains Pvt Ltd.,Banka Bullions Pvt. Ltd., Unique Chains Pvt. Ltd., Pranda Jewelry Pvt. Ltd., Bluestone Jewellery & Lifestyle Pvt. Ltd., Chain – N – Chains Jewels Ltd., Shree Vikram Jewellers, Aadey Jewels Pvt. Ltd., Pushpa Jewellers Pvt. Ltd., GIA India Laboratory Pvt. Ltd., Prince Hallmarking and Refinery Pvt. Ltd. and Aurum Bullion and Refinery Pvt. Ltd. amongst others.

The KJGF 2018 is one of the four-city jewellery shows (the others being Chennai, Hyderabad and Delhi) hosted throughout the year by UBM India to tap the potential of the Indian jewellery and gems market.
