Haryana Steelers beat Bengal Warriors 36-29

Haryana Steelers survived a second half scare to beat Bengal Warriors 36-29 in Inter Zone Challenge Week of Vivo Pro Kabaddi League. The defeat ended Bengal Warriors seven-match unbeaten streak as their defence couldn’t come up with enough tackle points. Wazir Singh scored 11 points to lead Haryana Steelers to victory and was ably supported by Surjeet Singh who scored eight points. Maninder Singh scored 14 points for Bengal Warriors.

Haryana Steelers are now second in Zone A with 33 points from nine matches. Bengal Warriors remained top of the table in Zone B with 41 points from 12 matches.

Bengal Warriors made a quick start and led 3-1 after two minutes as Maninder Singh and Jang Kun Lee scored raid points. Haryana Steelers leveled the match at 3-3 in the fourth minute as they got a tackle point. Haryana Steelers fought back to lead 7-4 in the 10th minute as Bengal Warriors were reduced to just three men.

Haryana Steelers inflicted an all out in the 13th minute as they led 12-4. Maninder Singh came up with a super raid in the 14th minute as Bengal Warriors reduced the lead to 8-13. Haryana responded with a two-point raid of their own as they led 16-10 after 16 minutes. Haryana Steelers ended the first half leading 19-11.

Haryana Steelers began the second half with a bang as Wazir Singh scored four points to give his team 24-12 lead in the 23rd minute. Maninder Singh was the lone warrior for Bengal Warriors as they suffered another all out to trailed 15-28 after 25 minutes. Haryana Steelers led 31-17 after 30 minutes.

Bengal Warriors needed more than a miracle to make a comeback in the second half. Their defence could score just 3 points in 30 minutes and couldn’t control Haryana Steelers’ raiders. Bengal Warriors scored with a two-point raid in the 35th minute to trail 23-32. Maninder Singh scored with a two-point raid as Bengal Warriors inflicted an all out in the 35th minute to cut the lead to five points.

Haryana Steelers kept their composure and didn’t wild under pressure in the last five minutes. Wazir Singh scored with a two-point raid in the 39th minute to clinch the match for Haryana as they led 35-29. Despite Maninder Singh’s heroics, Bengal Warriors lost 29-36
