In 2011, a major blaze had engulfed AMRI Hospital in Kolkata, killing 89 people, including 85 patients.
Nightmare of Kolkata AMRI Hospital returns when a massive fire broke out at Bhubaneswar’s Institute of Medical Sciences and Sum Hospital this evening killing not less than 24 people in the accident as of now.

Along with locals and administration five fire engines are at the spot and officials said the blaze has been brought under control.
Though all the patients have now been evacuated and moved to other hospitals, they said. But the trauma and shock was mammoth for the ill fated patients.

While the exact number of the deceased is yet to be confirmed, it is suspected that some of them died due to asphyxiation.
“So far we have received some ‘brought dead’ people at the Capital Hospital. However, I cannot exactly say the number of persons who have died in the incident,” news agency Press Trust of India quoted Health Secretary Arati Ahuja as saying.
The fire, suspected to have been caused by a short-circuit, started around 7.30 in the evening.
