44 th Regional Conference organized by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) & Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC)
Kolkata, 20th December, 2019: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) organized the 44th Regional Conference spread over two days (20th & 21st December 2019) at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata with the theme “CA – The Profession with Wings of Wisdom (WOW)” where in more than 2500 members would be attending the event from across India. This Regional conference is an endeavor to maintain and develop competencies of the members, to enhance their knowledge, expertise and skill sets in varied areas of the profession.
The Inaugural session of the 44 th Regional Conference organized by ICAI & EIRC was attended by: Dr. Madhusudan Sahoo, Hon’ble Chairperson, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India; Mr. Sagar Daryani, Founder, WOW! Momo. The Inaugural address was delivered by CA Sumit Binani, Chairman, EIRC in presence of the undermentioned Regional Council and Central Council Members of Eastern Region. On this occasion, CA Sumit Binani, Chairman, EIRC stated, “I strongly believe that deliberations on topics by experts, specially chosen from all over the country would definitely aid the members in dealing with the issues with greater competence and confidence. The Technical Sessions are planned in a way that issues and deliberations are practical and the Conference should turn out to be a fruitful, enlightening and educative experience for all the participants and a feast of knowledge is enjoyed by all.” He highlighted that “CAs have been instrumental in the proper and systematic implementation of the policies and reforms and ensuring all the requisite compliances from the stakeholders. Whether involved in their own practice or working in corporate world, CAs have demonstrated that they are the most sought after professionals. Also their increasing participation to the cause of social service over a period of time has established them as indispensable ‘must have’ professionals, an invaluable asset, and a force called “wisdom” to be reckoned, which plays a significant role in moving the wheels of prosperity of the businesses, thereby partnering in nation building.
This is the WOW factor of our profession”. The Highlights of the programme includes the various Technical Sessions which are oriented in a manner to develop the various technical and operational aspects for a Chartered Accountant to be a successful practitioner and a professional member in the Industry. Thus the sessions in this 44th Regional Conference are categorized under various themes which are CA – The 21st Century Auditor, CA – The Corporate Law Expert, CA – Intelligent @ Artificial Intelligence, CA – The GST Crusader, CA – The Ethical Professional, CA – The Tax Wizard, CA – The Entrepreneur. The speakers diligently expressed their views on these themes each which highlights the various spectrum to be present within a Chartered Accountant engaged in Practice and working in Industry.
