First-Ever Ola Campus Connect Challenge attracts over 6,000 registrations

●        At the finale event held on November 18th, ten finalists selected from 25 of India’s leading B-schools presented their ideas to the jury – MICA, Ahmedabad and MDI, Gurgaon wins top honours

●        Winners take away prize money of INR 3 lakh and an opportunity to work at Ola

●        Ola is looking to hire around 150 students from premier campuses this year, almost twice more than the previous year

Kolkata, November 20, 2019: Ola, India’s largest mobility platform and one of the world’s largest ride-hailing companies, recently hosted its first ever Ola Campus Connect Challenge 2019.  10 finalists from 25 of India’s leading institutions, presented their ideas to the jury, which comprised of senior members of Ola’s leadership team. Winners earned an opportunity to work at Ola and also a total prize money of INR 3 lakhs.

With campus recruitment being an important source of fresh entrepreneurial talent, Ola has been engaging with engineering and management institutions actively. The Ola Campus Connect Challenge was a first of its kind case study competition designed especially for management students to get an experience of the Ola universe. It offered four real business cases from the Company’s current focus areas across verticals like mobility, self-driven cars, dark kitchens in food business and financial services. The participants could take their pick on their area to focus on. Mentors were assigned to each team to guide them and make the case solutions implementable. The shortlisted teams were then invited to come down to Ola’s corporate office in Bangalore and present their solutions to the jury comprising of members of the company’s senior leadership.

Speaking at the event, Rohit Munjal, CHRO at Ola, said, “Ola strives to create a growth-led, entrepreneurial culture, where employees get to jump in head first and take control of their career paths very early on. They are encouraged to solve the real world business and technology problems across diverse verticals like mobility, financial services, electric mobility, food, skilling amongst others.”

He added, “The response to Ola Campus Connect Challenge has been overwhelming and we are excited to engage with the brightest young minds of our country. I would like to congratulate the winners, and we look forward to making our campus connect challenge bigger in the coming years.”

Ola received over 6000 student registrations from India’s prestigious institutions. Participants include students from business and technology schools including the Indian School of Business (ISB), the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), DMS IIT Delhi, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Management Development Institute (MDI),  XLRI Jamshedpur, TISS Mumbai, SIBM Pune, NITIE  Mumbai, SPJIMR Mumbai and NIT Jamshedpur amongst others.

The winners of the Ola Campus Connect Challenge 2019 are:

  1. Winner: Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) – Garima Pandey and Dimple Chandra
  2. First runner up: Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon – Sree Harsha Muvva, Naveen Dhanala, Vikram Challa
  3. Second runner up : Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai – Niyati Satoskar, Aditya Mangal
