Kolkata, 19 November 2019: Global humanitarian, world peace Ambassador and one of the most widely followed spiritual leaders of our times, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, will be on a three-day visit to West Bengal between 30th November and 2 December, where he will give a Discourse on the 17th chapter of Bhagavad Gita at Netaji Indoor Stadium on 30thNovember-1 December spread over in three sessions. Gurudev will also travel to Asansol and Andal for a public event. Thousands of people from all over West Bengal are expected to attend the event.

“As the burden of lifestyle diseases grows in the city, led predominantly by factors like stress, anxiety, environmental factors, erroneous lifestyle and food habits, people are also looking for ways to be healthy, stress-free and peaceful,” said Soumee Mitra, senior Art of Living faculty, “To answer this quest of many, Gurudev will lead a special program on one of the classical and timeless texts-the Bhagavad Gita, specifically, chapter 17 (divisions of faith)-a chapter that dwells on the three divisions of faith that determine that character of living beings. It holds secrets to living a healthy and materially fulfilling life that is free from stress, conflict and illness.”

In West Bengal, Gurudev has inspired project ‘Udaan’, a path-breaking effort to create safe haven for the under privileged girl child  and helping them to get back to mainstream society by providing loving and compassionate care with access to healthcare, education, vocational skills training and personality development. On 1 December, Gurudev is scheduled to inaugurate a residential school for these children that will provide holistic value based education along with vocational training  with an aim to make them blossom into happy, healthy, confident individuals armed with skills to earn their own livelihood when they grow up.

Apart from Project Udaan, The Art of Living has been engaged in various service projects in the state. 3700 children have been receiving quality education through our free schools project across the state. The drug and rehabilitation center of The Art of Living has treated over 2400 addicts. Through project Rupayan, we are supporting children at risk by weaning them away from the dangers of drugs to channeling their creativity and giving them quality education. Under social internship program, school going students and college students come in to intern with us on our various social projects running in slums and economically backward areas.
