Indian Plastics Federation presents India’s leading and Eastern India’s largest International Plastics Exhibition” INDPLAS’18”  in Kolkata.

TO SUPPORT THE GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES IN PLASTIC INDUSTRY IN EASTERN INDIA, INDIAN PLASTICS FEDERATION (IPF) IS ORGANISING IT’S TRIENNIAL EXHIBITION “INDPLAS’18” IN KOLKATA FROM 30TH NOVEMBER – 3RD DECEMBER, 2018 AT BIGGER, BETTER  AND CONVENIENT VENUE – THE ECO PARK EXHIBITION GROUND, RAJARHAT TO ATTRACT DOMESTIC AND  GLOBAL MAJORS TO PARTICIPATE  AND REAP THE BENEFITS OF GROWTH IN THIS REGION.

Indian Plastics Federation (IPF), one of the oldest plastics industry body in India, today updated about Indplas’18  – the largest sector-specific business-to-business (B2B) international exhibition in the eastern region. INDPLAS’18 is the 8th edition of “INDPLAS” series, the International Exhibition on plastics that will bring entire plastics industry under one roof and is being planned on a BIGGER, BETTER AND CONVENIENT VENUE.

Briefing on the occasion, Shri Alok Tibrewala, President, Indian Plastics Federation, said:

The Indian economy today stands at US$2.5 trillion with the eastern states accounting for 16% contribution to the overall GDP. As per NITI AYOG, the economy will swell to US$7.5 trillion in next 10 years with the eastern states accounting for 30% of the economy. It is expected that the state of West Bengal will be the lead state in not only propelling the growth but is expected to emerge as the fastest growing state economy in India.

With the government of West Bengal undertaking a slew of infrastructure and economic reforms, working aggressively on ease of doing business and pro-actively facilitating business and corporate houses to invest in the state, West Bengal Global Summit to be held in Kolkata on January 16-17, 2018 is bound to act as a major catalyst and game changer where industry looks at investment in east.

The plastic processing industry stands at more than Rs.2 lakh crore annually, still growing at more than 15% per annum.  With 40,000 units in operation and offering direct employment to more than 4 million people, the investment prospects in plastic industry, specifically in east looks very buoyant. As the per capita consumption in east will grow at a rate which will be more than double the national rate, West Bengal will become the most preferred destination in our country.

Today the total plastic consumption in India is around 15 MT and is expected to go up to 25 MT in next 7 years. The new port facilities coming up in east in Sagarmala Scheme of the government as well as modernization of existing ports shall provide a great infrastructure to the industry. With BCPC expected to come to its full capacity in next 6 months and new IOCL refinery and Petrochemicals project starting very soon, the east with sufficient polymer production, adequate infrastructure, and availability of skilled and unskilled manpower, Eastern states, especially West Bengal is poised to become the sun-shine state in India.

Briefing the media about Indplas’18, Mr Ashok Jajodia said that this time, the number of participants in INDPLAS’18 is expected to touch 500, an all time high for the INDPLAS exhibitions. There is very encouraging response from Indian and foreign machinery, ancillaries, raw material, additives, master batches producers to participate in Indplas’18.  Their response itself re-affirms the untapped growth opportunity in the plastics industry in Eastern India which is already on an upswing. Large number of foreign exhibitors are participating in INDPLAS’18 from China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, UAE and other countries. Large Foreign delegation from China and other country will visit INDPLAS’18 to explore the business possibilities in eastern region, especially West Bengal. INDPLAS 18 is supported by Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India, ASSOCHAM, Indian Chamber of Commerce, Plastindia Foundation and leading Plastics Associations
