MOHAMMEDAN SC SIGN 6 FT 5 IN STRIKER STEPHEN HARRY

KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting Club have secured the services of Nigerian striker Emenka Stephen Harry for the forthcoming 2018/19 Calcutta Premier Division ‘A’.

Known for his towering 6 ft 5 in frame, Stephen joins the Black Panthers as a replacement for Zikahi Leonce Dodoz, who suffered a serious ankle injury at Mohammedan Sporting’s residential training camp in Kalyani and ruled out for the entire campaign.

Stephen has been training with the Black Panthers’ first team since Monday and after evaluating his fitness level for last three days the technical team of Raghu Nandi and Sudip Sarkar decided to include him in the roster.

The 28-year-old began his career with Nigerian 2nd tier club Babanawa FC in 2007 before joining Nigerian Premier League club Abia Warriors next season. The striker moved to India with Delhi Super League club Shahdra FC in 2012 and went on to play for the likes of Indian Bank, Gangtok Himalayan FC and Delhi United. He last turned out for Rangdajied United in 2017/18 Shillong Premier League where he scored 11 goals in 14 appearances.

“I know Dodoz for a long time and I wish him a speedy recovery. It would be really difficult to replace a player him but I am here to do my best for the team,” said Stephen.

Interestingly, Dodoz and Stephen played together for Gangtok Himalayan FC in 2015/16 2nd Division League.

Mohammedan Sporting will open their campaign in 2018/19 Calcutta Premier Division ‘A’ against Food Corporation of India (FCI) on August 5, 2018 at Mohammedan Sporting Ground.
