Vodafone gifts its customers – ‘Vodafone Pandal Express’,

Free bus service, this Durga Pujo

Kolkata, 1st October 2019: Aiming to make the experience of ‘pandal hopping’ during Durga Pujo more enjoyable and convenient, Vodafone has launched a free of cost, Hop-on Hop-off bus service – ‘Vodafone Pandal Express’, for its customers in Kolkata today.

Starting on ‘Panchami’ (3rd October), Vodafone customers in the city can be ensured of a worry-free, spiritual and joyous experience of visiting the pandals on the Vodafone Pandal Express. As part of a special arrangement during the most celebrated festival in the region, Vodafone will offer four AC buses to the pandal hoppers in the city for five days until ‘Navami’ (7th October) from 12 noon to 4am.

These buses will run on four different routes across Kolkata, helping Vodafone customers visit different pandals throughout the day. Each bus will cover the same route at least eight times in a day enabling thousands of people to enjoy Durga Pujo ceremonies. Vodafone customers can conveniently pre-book their tickets using My Vodafone App to avoid last minute rush. There is no charge for the tickets, but seats will be offered on first come first serve basis.  

The 40-seater Vodafone Pandal Express buses were flagged off by Mr. Atri Bhattacharya (I.A.S.), Principal Secretary, Tourism Department, Govt. of West Bengal, here todaySpeaking at the event, he said, “We believe that Durga Pujo is the world’s greatest public festival. It is also a cultural heritage that we want to share with the world and Hon’ble Chief Minister has also started this fantastic practice of this event after Pujo every year where there is a carnival on Red Road. We want people from all over the world to come and see the unique and stunning world’s largest public art installation in the city. Additionally, we want to support any attempts or initiative to make this better known and more visible, so all power to Vodafone for this bus initiative and we hope to see many more such efforts in the future.”  

Announcing the campaign, Shivan Bhargava, Business Head – Kolkata & West Bengal, Vodafone Idea Limited said “Each year thousands of people visit multiple pandals every evening, to seek blessings from the Goddess and immerse in the festive spirit of Durga Pujo. With Vodafone Pandal Express, first-of-its-kind initiative, we are enabling ease of mobility throughout the length and breadth of Kolkata city. With over thirty pick-up and drop-off points, we hope people will make the best use of this initiative by simply pre-booking the service at the click of a button from My Vodafone App and enjoy Pandal hopping to the fullest. We will also be streaming live Pujos from some of the pandals through Vodafone Play app, this year.”

The luxury buses come with the best facilities for comfortable rides. Vodafone customers can also download the Vodafone Play app to watch live Pujos which will be streamed on the app from multiple pandals in the city.
