DUMDUM CANTONMENT STATION TO BECOME A MEETING POINT OF METRO RAILWAY AND EASTERN RAILWAY

Dumdum Cantonment station of Yellow Line i.e. Noapara-Barasat via Bimanbandar Metro Project is going to be one of the interchanging points of Metro Railway and Eastern Railway. The station will be an important station in Kolkata Metro’s map. As Dumdum Cantonment station of Eastern Railway is adjacent to the newly built Dumdum Cantonment Metro station, so people coming from Sealdah North Section i.e. from places like Barasat, Basirhat, Taki, Hasnabad and Bongaon will prefer to use this station to enter the ‘City of Joy’ easily and conveniently in much lesser time. Also the commuters of Howrah, Hooghly, Barrackpore will be able to reach Dumdum Cantonment station smoothly from Noapara and to board the trains of Eastern Railway. It is estimated that 66,000 commuters will be using this station daily by 2035.
State of the art passenger amenities will be provided at the newly built Dumdum Cantonment station. There will be 6 escalators, 3 lifts in this station for passengers convenience. Apart from these, 7 staircases will also be there. 16 AFC Gates will be installed at this station to ensure hassle-free movement of passengers. Modern fire-fighting equipment will also be installed to ensure passenger safety.
Dumdum Cantonment station will have two platforms to ensure easy entraining / detraining of passengers. There will be adequate ticket counters, sitting benches, first aid room, toilets for ladies, gents and divyangjan, Public Address System, digital display boards for the convenience of the passengers.
Once commissioned, Dumdum Cantonment station is going to be one of the busiest Metro stations of the city.
