Kolkata, 30th October 2026:
Who says ghosts have to be scary? Meet Jilipi, a seven-year-old with the authority of a ‘boro thakrun’ and a few spooky tricks up her sleeve! Set in a traditional Bengali zamindar household, Bhoot Ginni Jilipilata: From 1942 promises a delightful mix of ghostly mischief, quirky family dynamics and laugh-out-loud surprises. Sony AATH brings this quirky all-new spooktacular fiction show to your screens from 23rd November, on Sony AATH and Sony LIV.
“বয়স মাত্র সাত, কিন্তু পরিচয়ে তিনি বাড়ির বড় ঠাকরুন!” (She is only seven years old, but the undisputed matriarch of the house!) Meet Jilipi, a seven-year-old ghost who returns after 80 years with one mission to keep her family in line. But when a little pint-sized ghost starts calling the shots in a household full of strong personalities, chaos is sure to knock on the door. Between spooky surprises, quirky family drama and Jilipi’s rather unconventional ways of keeping the household in check, the residents of this family are in for quite a haunting ride.

Producer of the show, Sahana Dutta, said, “Jilipi is unlike any character we’ve seen before. She is seven years old, but in her mind, she is the unquestioned ‘boro thakrun’ of the house! She genuinely believes it is her job to look after everyone, and that is where so many funny situations arise from. What I love about her character is that beneath all the mischief and the supernatural surprises, there is a lot of love and affection. The story is as much about family and belonging as it is about a ghost, and I hope viewers have as much fun watching Jilipi as we have bringing her world to life.”
The production house is Missing Screw, with Sahana Dutta and Rohit Samanta serving as producers and curators. The show features Sreejoyee Majumdar, Kanchan Mallick, and Chandmohon Talukdar in the lead roles. The cast also includes Pushpita Mukherjee, Sumit Samaddar, Chandreyee Dutta, Sanghashree Sinha, Indranil, Prity Biswas, Aritra Dutta, Debparna, Prity Kundu, Rishav, Madhurima, Ananya Sen, Chandranibha Mukherjee, Koushiki, Supradip Khatuya (Fugla), Jiyana, Ruthvikand Priyangshi.
Get ready for spooky times with Bhoot Ginni Jilipilata: From 1942, starting 23rd November on Sony AATH and Sony LIV!
