NASA Selects University of Maryland to Continue Work of Space Science, Technology Research Center
GREENBELT, Md., March 30, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — NASA has selected the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) to lead the continuation of valuable research performed by the Center for Research and Exploration in Space Science & Technology (CRESST) under the CRESST II contract.
The cooperative agreement between UMD and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, is valued at $87.5 million for five years and may be continued for an additional five years.
UMD and its four research partners will collaborate with scientists in the Sciences and Exploration Directorate at Goddard on observational, experimental, and theoretical research in support of NASA’s strategic science mission objectives in the study of the solar systems, stars, galaxies and the universe at large. The work under this agreement supports community access to space science data archives and analysis of scientific data from current and past NASA missions.
UMD’s partner research institutions are: University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Catholic University of America, Howard University, and the Southeastern Universities Research Association.
