Lokshilpa O Karukriti Mela at Jorasanko Thakurbari
The West Bengal State Akademi Of Dance Drama Music And Visual Arts, Rabindra Bharati University will hold the Lokshilpa O Karukriti Mela at the Jorasanko Thakurbari from May 6 to 8, between 8 am and 8 pm daily.
Arround 60 artists, craftspersons and weavers from 15 districts of West Bengal themselves the present with their attractive traditional arts and crafts –
- patachitras, mats, and decorative items made with coarse grass and buffalo horns from Paschim Midnapur district;
- traditional puppets from Dakshin 24-Parganas district; batik products from Howrah district;
- kantha-stitch items and wood carvings from Burdwan district;
- dokra jewellery, shola crafts and batik products from Birbhum district;
- traditional clay dolls from Nadia district;
- Baluchari sarees, dokra crafts and terracotta items from Bankura district;
- Chhau dance masks from Purulia district;
- bamboo crafts from Malda district;
- jute crafts from Murshidabad district;
- wooden masks, bamboo crafts and dhokra items from Dakshin Dinajpur district;
- Polia clay models from Uttar Dinajpur district;
- wooden handicrafts and Tamang handicrafts from Alipurduar district;
- shitalpatis from Cooch Behar district;
- and last but not the least, wood carvings from Darjeeling district.
