Melody Queen of Assam Miranda Choudhury decorated an Evening of Melody on the New Year Day at Balaji Temple, Guwahati

Purva Tirupati Balaji Mandir is situated in the South-eastern side of Guwahati beside NH 37. It is a two minute walk from the Inter-State Bus Terminus and International Trade Centre, Guwahati.
The temple not only performs religious ceremonies but also functions as a cultural centre of the North-East. On 1st January 2017 Balaji temple celebrated the New Year Day by organising a cultural evening with popular folk singer Miranda Choudhury of Assam and some other artistes in its wide lawn.
An uncountable rush of many thousand people enjoyed the programme. Felicitated with traditional floral ‘Gamocha’ by the Organising Committee, Miranda, in her show, performed a good number of devotional and traditional folk songs of Assam and Bengal which were highly applauded by the viewers. Groups of old and young men and women were seen dancing together with the enchanting melody and rhythm of her songs.
The agenda of the said cultural evening also included traditional Naam by a local women group; Instrumental Recital by Pandit S Shekhar, Soumen Sarkar, Somnath Roy and Supriyo Bhattacharya; Satriya Dance etc.
