Let them learn the culture of Bengal first: Mamata Banerjee on BJP
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today lashed out at the BJP for trying to incite communal tension in the State. Let them learn about the culture of the State first and then comment, she said adding that ‘Sindoor khela’ not ‘tolowar khela’ started by few Delhi babus is Bengal’s culture.
“I participate in Durga Puja. I also participate in Eid, I go to Church. Who are you to stop me? This is the land of Maa-Mati-Manush: We cannot be divided. We will not bow our heads,” the CM said.
On the beef ban issue, she commented, “Don’t you kill a fish to eat? Aren’t plants also killed for food? Why then is there an opposition to meat? People will decide what they want to eat or what they wear. No political party can decide that.”
Saying that she is accountable to Maa, Mati, Manush, Mamata Banerjee reiterated: “We believe in politics of culture. Bengal believes in Sarva Dharma Samannay. We work for people of all castes, creed, religion.”
She warned people to be wary of propaganda and rumours: “Some people are carrying out propaganda on social media to incite communal violence. Do not believe rumours
I am your paharadar (protector). Do not be misled by provocations. We will not allow any riots.”
