Bengal Govt to provide personal accident insurance to SHG members
Through the West Bengal Swarojgar Corporation Limited (WBSCL), the State Government has decided to provide personal accident insurance coverage to every member of self-help group. The arrangement falls under the Samaj Sathi Scheme. WBSCL comes under the Self-Help Group and Self-Employment Department.
For this purpose, the government has selected Insurance Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA)-registered insurance companies through a transparent bidding process.
The accident insurance package includes insurance benefits for accident-related medical expenses and hospital stay as well as wage loss compensation. The insurance scheme shall apply to all the districts of Bengal.
