By PIB Delhi

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is implementing Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and Scheme of Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) for Skill Development under Skill Indian Mission.

PMKVY does not mandate the establishment of training centres. However, accredited and affiliated training centres with more than 4 star rating are eligible for empanelment under PMKVY2.0. Under the process of accreditation of training centre, the broad parameters namely area of training infrastructure, availability of training tools/equipments, counsellors, safety measures, AEBAS facility, etc, are required to be met as per laid down guidelines. Further, the scheme of Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) is being implemented through its institutional framework in the country with the objective to improve the occupational skills and technical knowledge of the non/neo literate. The empanelments of new JSSs are being done through Request-for- Proposal (RFP) mechanism.

In addition to above short-term training, the Directorate General of Training (DGT) under MSDE is implementing long-duration vocational courses through Industrial Training Institute (ITI) with an objective to provide a skilled workforce to the industry as well as self-employment of youth.
