Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the participants, organisers and guests of the International Day of the Arctic – a forum, held at the initiative of Rosatom State Corporation.

“In order to discuss a wide range of topical issues related to the exploration of the Arctic, the preservation of its rich natural resources and the implementation of large investment projects, your forum has brought together officials, business leaders, experts, and media representatives from Russia and many other countries in St Petersburg.
Russia traditionally pays special attention to the development of northern areas. The Russian Federation consistently strengthens cooperation with its neighbours in the region, including in the Arctic Council format. Now, during Russia’s chairmanship of the Council, we are aiming to comprehensively improve the effectiveness of this important multilateral mechanism in every possible way and to implement promising and mutually beneficial joint projects. I am sure that only together will we be able to turn the Arctic region into a space of peace, cooperation and mutual trust.”
