BSF seized 15 Gold biscuits worth Rs. 90 lakhs on the Indo-Bangladesh Border, 01 Indian smugglers also apprehended

The troops of 84 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier apprehended an Indian smuggler red handed with 15 Gold biscuits. The weight of Gold biscuits is 1749.18 grams. The price of the seized gold biscuits in the Indian market is Rs. 90,03,029/-.

On 12 February, 2022, troops of Border Out Post Khanjipur, 84 Battalion got information that the smugglers had left for the Kanaikuli Bus Stop through a bus. The troops of the Border Out Post Khanjipur laid an ambush near the Kanaikuli bus stop. Around 1218 hrs, the bus was stopped by BSF troops at Kanaikuli bus stop and apprehended the smuggler. On thorough search of the smuggler, 15 gold biscuits were recovered from him.

During preliminary interrogation, the apprehended smuggler was identified as Hanif Mandal (age- 36 years), S/o- Julmat Mandal, Village- Tenpur Masjid Para, PS- Marutia. The smuggler revealed that he had taken these gold biscuits from Hashid Sheikh, S/o– Irfan Sheikh, Village- Rautbari, Post
– Nandanpur, PS– Karimpur, District- Nadia and Manan Mandal, S/o– Atar Ali, Village– Tenpur, Post– Digalkandi, PS– Marutia, District– Nadia. All these gold biscuits were being handed over to Surjit Haldar, Dharmatala, New Market, Jan Bazar More Canara Bank 3rd Floor Kolkata.

The seized gold biscuits and the apprehended smuggler have been handed over to the Customs Office Tihatta for further legal action.

The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier encouraging BSF jawans stated that jawans are committed to completely stop smuggling in their area. It has been possible to stop smuggling in the area only due to the vigilance and understanding of the jawans. He added further in clear words that he will not allow any kind of smuggling from his area.
