BSF JAWANS APPREHENDED 03 SMUGGLERS ON THE BORDER, ALSO SEIZES PHENSEDYL IN HUGE QUANTITIES

On 02nd January, 2023, late night, on the basis of reliable information, the troops of Border Out Post Silberia, 08 Battalion posted in the Border area of the district, apprehended two Bangladeshi smugglers with 98 bottles of Phensedyl in a special operation. The smugglers were identified as Motiyar Mandal (45) and Bilal Mandal (27), both residents of Bagadanga village in Bangladesh.
The smugglers revealed during interrogation that they were going to Bangladesh with Phensedyl from Kulgachhi village in India, but BSF jawans apprehended them.
In another incident, jawans of Border Out Post Matiyari, 54 Battalion, based on reliable information, apprehended a smuggler with 132 bottles of Phensedyl. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Bappa Mandal (30), Nadia. The smuggler revealed during interrogation that he was about to throw these Phensedyl bottles over the fence towards Bangladesh, but the jawans apprehended him. Apart from this, troops of Border Out Post Sikra, 82 Battalion, Border Out Post Bithari, 112 Battalion, Border Out Post P J Nagar, 153 Battalion, Border Out Post Jalangi, 141 Battalion and Border Out Post Nawada, 70 Battalion seized a total of 555 bottles of Phensedyl in their areas of responsibility. The estimated value of seized Phensedyl in all the incidents is 1,29,251/- rupees.
The apprehended smugglers and the seized goods were handed over to Police Station Hanskhali, Chapra, Custom Office Tentulia, Police Station Jalangi and Kaliachak respectively for further legal action.
Public Relation Officer of South Bengal Frontier stated that BSF jawans always perform their duty on the border with full of alertness, due to which smugglers do not get success in their illegal activities. He further stated that the smugglers are being apprehended continuously and they are being punished according to the law.
