TAJ CITY CENTRE NEWTOWN PRESENTS ‘PAINTS & STROKES’ – AN IMMERSIVE ART EXHIBITION IN THE CITY BY EMINENT ARTISTS OF BENGAL
KOLKATA, FEBRUARY 17, 2023: Taj City Centre Newtown, Kolkata presents an exclusive art exhibition titled ‘Paints & Strokes’ by 3 eminent artists Dhiren Sasmal, Sambhu Saha and Gautam Sarkar at the beautiful Shamiana. The Taj’s art portfolio boasts of an enormous collection of over four thousand artworks with over a hundred museum quality masterworks.
The unique blend of old world charm and modern day charisma of Shamiana is a perfect setting where the artists could express and shape their palettes of thoughts with vivid colours.
Dhiren Sasmal, renowned for his linear execution and mastery over media, but also in transformation of a complex formal structure into a jubilant world of fantasy-oriented beauty. His immense talent has lead him to win awards in every sphere of artistic activity, be it applied or fine art. His paintings can be found in galleries and collections all over the world.
Sambhu Saha on the other hand, belongs to the rare breed of young, contemporary Indian Impressionist painters. He draws his inspiration from the legendary Gopal Ghosh. In Sambhu’s work one sees that freely brushed colours are given primacy over line. He uses short thick strokes of colour to quickly re-create the sensation in the eye that views the subject, rather than recreating the subject and its details. Paint is often applied impasto, unmixed.
Gautam Sarkar, known for his vibrant and fast brush strokes, which give movement and vigour to his canvasses, be they of beautiful women-folk, cityscapes, or mythological figures. He works with all media, and loves to experiment, constantly reinventing himself.
