The construction work of Victoria Station has been taken up by the executing agency RVNL recently. RVNL has started to barricade approximately 5000 sq meter area for construction of this underground station. In order to construct this station, the Fountain of Joy at Kolkata Maidan will be dismantled first and reconstructed again after the completion of construction work. Several trees will also be transplanted to pave the way for this work. At present RVNL engineers have started the mobilization work before the construction work starts. 30 weeks will be required for the preparation. This station will be constructed with the help of the Cut and Cover method by M/s Larsen and Toubro Ltd. After completion of barricading work, a diaphragm wall will be erected for the Victoria station which will be around 325 meters long.

A vibration Impact Study has been done to assess the vibration levels likely to be generated during the construction and operations of Metro Railway. Based on the reports of the Vibration Impact Study, No no-objection certificate has been obtained from the Victoria Memorial Hall Authority.

Different measures will also be taken to reduce air and noise pollution, especially in the Maidan area during the construction work of this station, and also to maintain an aesthetic view of Victoria and its surroundings.
