IBSA and Tripod Entertainment collaborate to screen a documentary film on heritage durga pujos in kolkata
Kolkata, Sat 14th Oct, 2023 – Indo-British Scholars’ Association (IBSA) in collaboration with Tripod Entertainment organized a special screening of a documentary film ‘Bonedi Barir Durga Pujo’ at British Club today.
The event had other partners such as 7Dreamz, The Scene Create company, and Blooper House Studios. Directed by debutant filmmaker and UK scholar, Indradeep Narayan Bannerjee and starring acclaimed actress Pujarni Gosh, ‘Bonedi Bari’ is a cinematic masterpiece that delves into the rich heritage and cultural significance of ancestral homes in Bengal.
The screening programme commenced with a warm welcome from the Reetasri Ghosh, Chair, Program Council, IBSA, who spoke about the importance of cultural exchanges in strengthening the bonds between the United Kingdom and India.
Renowned Film Director, Entrepreneur and Producer Satrajit Sen then took the stage to share his insights into the making of ‘Bonedi Barir Durga Pujo.’ He threw insights on the importance of preserving cultural legacies through art and storytelling.
Debutant director Indradeep Narayan Bannerjee followed with a heartfelt speech in which he shared the journey of creating ‘Bonedi Barir Durga Pujo.’
Adding to the excitement, actress Pujarni Gosh spoke about her experiences and challenges while portraying the essence of Bonedi Bari culture on screen. She expressed her experience for being a part of such a meaningful project and the privilege of working alongside a talented team.
Saptarshi Kar, Secretary, IBSA said: “IBSA is delighted to be partnering with Tripod Entertainment for showcasing the documentary film on Heritage Durga Pujos in Kolkata. We have been working closely on this sector with like-minded individuals and organisations to promote heritage awareness and conservation. The value of our Durga Pujo has grown tremendously after the UNESCO World Heritage tag. This only means that we should continue to harness the resources towards its conservation and awareness as a cultural icon. I thank the filmmaker and producer involved with this documentary film for today’s screening, just a week ahead of Durga Pujo.”
Following the inspiring speeches, the audience settled in for the screening of the documentary film. The audience who were primarily guests from the UK alumni community and the film industry were transported into the enchanting world of ancestral homes in Bengal.
The Vote of Thanks was given by Amit Sengupta, Chair, Media Council, IBSA. The programme concluded with a delightful high tea, providing an opportunity for guests to engage in discussions about the documentary and network with fellow cinephiles and cultural enthusiasts.
