EASTERN RAILWAY CONTINUING PACE OF GROWTH IN FREIGHT REVENUE

Kolkata, December 18, 2023:

Eastern Railway is continuing its excellence in freight loading. After last year’s record freight loading, this year also under the guidance of General Manager, Shri Amar Prakash Dwivedi, Eastern Railway is maintaining the same pace of growth in originating freight loading. Opening of new Gati Shakti Terminals, negotiating with the big industries, speeding up of freight train operation  and exploring new varieties of freight by Eastern Railway team have made Eastern Railway a distinct figure in freight transport business.

The total originating cumulative loading of Eastern Railway for the month of April to November, 2023 recorded as 51.88 million tonnes surpassing the previous year’s loading of 51.23 million tonnes during April to November, 2023. The total earning from Eastern Railway from freight recorded as Rs.7367.06 crore for the period of April to November, 2023 compared to Rs.6595.95 crore earned during April to November, 2022, thus registering a growth in freight revenue of 11:69 % this year.
