A man who knows too much-Anirban Andy Bhattacharya had a thought-provoking conversation with Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee
Pipe Dream an evening of inspiration and hope through thought-provoking conversations between Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee an acclaimed interdisciplinary artist and Anirban Andy Bhattacharyya, an author, entrepreneur, adjunct faculty, climate risk activist in his book The Ruins Of Hope took place in the library room of ICCR recently.
The session started with the introduction of Amploglobal the company founded by Anirban that works on sustainability. Talk on sustainability, AI, etc followed by the CSR activities of Amploglobal and Andy. Sudakshina Addy and Andy talked about their engagements with the various NGOs. A short performance by the children of sex workers and domestic help residing near the Kalighat area is worth mentioning. Amploglobal’s CSR team is working with the NGO Jadavpur Bondhu Collective Social Welfare Society, based in Kalighat run by
Smritiparna Sengupta works for the betterment of these children.
- Introduction of Ruins of Hope the book. Then it’s a time to have some light on the backstory of the book. Anirban gave a brief of the story to the audience followed by the introduction of Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee who moderated the book reading session followed by a conversation with Anirban Bhattacharya.
Anirban, ‘Andy,’ Bhattacharyya has over twenty-one years of experience in strategy, risk, research, development, and implementation of next-generation transformation programs. His reach has spanned from the supply chain, industrial IoT, and sustainability space. After studying engineering at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, India, Andy earned an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where he specialized in strategy and marketing.
As an executive consultant at global corporations, including Blackstone, Quantum Black/Mckinsey, IBM, Capgemini, KPMG, etc. he led businesses shaking hands with technology like “As a Service” models working with AWS, Microsoft, GCP, and IBM Cloud stack driving various GTMs like “Pay as you Grow” model, “Risk Sharing” model, “Consumption Model”, “Rental Data and Loyalty” model. In 2018, he founded Amplo Global Inc. (www.amploglobal.com), a design and data-led and artificial intelligence-enabled sustainability risk management platform company, driving risk strategies and maturity readiness of organizations getting ready or already in their journey of ESG. HSBC Clean Tech Fund acquired the majority of the shares in 2022. Andy started advising companies like Wipro and L&T.
Andy is an adjunct faculty at Rutgers University’s esteemed MBA program where he teaches Design and Materiality. He is also a visiting faculty at ISB, Hyderabad focusing on Industry 4.0, Manufacturing Excellence, and Sustainability. He holds six Intellectual Properties in Industrial and Business Automation.
Passionate about creating a positive impact on society, he launched an anti-sex trafficking non-profit organization, surindia.org that nurtures and promotes talented vulnerable young students interested in vocal and instrument-based music along with hygiene, English, Math, and Bengali. As a volunteer, he has been driving strategy and operations for organizations like ApneAap (www.apneaap.org), Home of Hope (https://hohinc.org/), and Kolkata Foundation (www.kolkatafoundation.org).
