Indian Railway Ophthalmic Physician Association (IROPA) along with Department of Ophthalmology B. R. Singh Hospital has recently organized a national conference on the latest developments in Ophthalmology at “Manthan” Railway Auditorium, Kolkata on 09th February, 2025. This was attended by Railway ophthalmologists from various zones and renowned eye doctors from Kolkata and neighbouring zones. Guest speakers included Dr. Kumar J. from Mumbai, Dr. Raja Narayan from Hyderabad, Prof. Dinesh Talwar from Delhi, Dr. Mohan Rajan from Chennai and faculty doctors from All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), Dr. Debasish Bhattacharjee and Partha Biswas and other dignitaries. The conference discussed various topics throughout the day which included the recent advances and also the means to prevent blindness among our population. Two sessions were dedicated for medical examination of Railway candidates and employees where Senior Railway Ophthalmologists Dr. Subhankar Home, Dr. Arnav Mitra, Dr. Debjani Mukherjee, Dr Lalit Adhikary deliberated actively. Refractive Surgery Session was also one of the highlights of the conference. More than 100 delegates participated in the programme.
This knowledge enriching Ophthalmology conference was highly beneficial for all the participants and the attendees. It was followed by an interactive session in which there was spontaneous participation by the captive audience.
