Cleanliness Awareness Programme Conducted at Ballygunge Railway Station
Eastern Railway Continues Its Drive to Promote Hygiene and Responsible Behaviour
Kolkata, April 14, 2025:
A comprehensive cleanliness awareness programme was organized at Ballygunge (BLN) Railway Station on April 14, 2025, with a focus on sensitizing passengers, vendors, and other railway users about the importance of maintaining a clean and hygienic environment within station premises.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about proper waste disposal practices, discourage littering, and reinforce the prohibition of spitting in and around the station area including Railway track. As part of the campaign, passengers and stakeholders were actively engaged and educated on their role in keeping railway premises clean and safe.
The programme witnessed active participation and support from the Environment and Housekeeping Management department, Chief Health Inspector , Railway Protection Force (RPF), and cleaning staff, all of whom played an instrumental role in the effective execution of the awareness drive.
In addition to the awareness campaign, enforcement measures were also taken. A total fine amounting to ₹2,500 was collected from 16 individuals found violating cleanliness norms.
Eastern Railway remains committed to fostering a culture of cleanliness and responsible civic behaviour across its network through regular awareness drives and enforcement initiatives.
