Uttar Pradesh State Horticultural Co-operative Marketing Federation (HOFED) organises Buyer Seller Meet on Potato in Chennai

The UP State Horticultural Co-operative Marketing Federation (HOFED) organized a Buyer Seller Meet on Potato in Chennai on 18 September, 2025.
The UP State Horticultural Co-operative Marketing Federation (HOFED, in association with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and Department of Horticulture, Department of Agriculture (Agri Business), Govt. of Tamil Nadu, organised Potato Buyer Seller Meet (BSM) in Chennai for the promotion of Uttar Pradesh potato commercial varieties. i.e. Kufri Bahar Kufri Badshah, Kufri Anand, Kufri Chipsona 1 & 3, Kufri Sinduri, Kufri Pukhraj, Kufri Satluj & Kurfi Surya in domestic markets & identify export potential from Tamil Nadu State.
During the Buyer Seller Meet 9 agreements were signed between the traders/exporters for procurement of approximate quantity of 2700 Metric Tons.
Around 50 participants attended the programme including potato farmers from UP, Tamil Nadu exporters, traders from Koyampedu Market, Erode etc. The programme was chaired by Managing Director, HOFED and other participants were Regional Head, APEDA, Chennai, Additional Director, Department of Horticulture, Dy. Director of Agriculture (Agri – Business), Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
UP Department officials made a detailed presentation of the potato varieties grown in the State. Subsequently the UP famers informed about the availability of the potato variety and desired to supply to the traders and exporters of Tamil Nadu.
Some of the exporters also informed the stakeholders about the requirement of potato and sought information on the variety suitable for table purpose and for value addition which was duly clarified by the farmers and the UP HOFED officials.
