CPR – A LIFE-SAVING SKILL TRAINING CONDUCTED AT RANAGHAT CARSHED

Kolkata, November 22, 2025

In a workplace where every second counts, especially during medical emergencies, equipping frontline railway staff with life-saving skills is essential. Recognizing this need, the Health and Family Welfare Department of Sealdah Division organised a comprehensive hands-on CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training programme combined with a health check-up camp at the Ranaghat Carshed on 21 November 2025. The initiative aimed not only to enhance employee well-being but also to empower them with critical first-response abilities that can help save lives.

Dr. Kalpana Mandal, Chief Medical Superintendent, Sealdah, emphasised the importance of timely CPR and how trained staff can save a life during emergencies.

Dr. Sanjeev Choudhary, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent (H&FW), Sealdah, conducted a practical demonstration of CPR and provided hands-on training to the Carshed employees, ensuring that participants gained confidence in performing the procedure correctly.

The health check-up segment was led by a dedicated medical team comprising Dr. Surendra Baitha, Dr. Dipendu Majumdar from Ranaghat, Dr. Swagata Sircar, Physician, and Dr. Sourav Seth, Dental Surgeon, B.R. Singh Hospital. The screening covered hypertension, diabetes, and clinical assessment for anaemia. ECG tests were conducted whenever required, and dental examinations were carried out for all participants.

A total of 95 employees benefitted from the programme, which received wide appreciation for enhancing health awareness and promoting a safety-oriented work culture within the Carshed.
