Sravanti Majumdar said at the World Radio Day event, “Radio never tires people out”
On the occasion of the World Radio Day, the legendary voice of radio Sravanti Majumdar was felicitated at the “Kaan Pete Roi” an event organized by Haimantir Konthe and The Dreamers Music PR Agency.Haimanti Roy, Soumya Dasgupta, Debashis Bose, Sudipta Chanda and others were present at ‘The Yellow Turtle’ restaurant in South Kolkata. Later in the event, the importance of radio was discussed. Haimanti Roy performed music.
In a brief discussion with Debashis Bose, Sravanti Majumdar said that she has been reminiscing since she came to Kolkata. Although we have to look back, we cannot just hold on to memories. We have to move forward. She also said that she actually came to sing. She had no plans to work through radio. She had many things to do. She hopes that quality work will be done more and more. In a cyclical manner, a generation will come who will be much more aware of quality.
The discussion came up about radio dramas, advertisement songs, and various popular radio programs.
Sudhin Dasgupta’s son, renowned composer and engineer Soumya Dasgupta, remembers the moment of recording with Sravanti Majumdar. He said that at that time he would get twenty-five rupees for playing on the recording. Even many tunes were composed for a single advertisement and the best ones were chosen from them.The prominent radio presenter of this generation, Raja Das, said that Sravanti Majumdar, Debashis Bose, I have learned a lot from this generation. Friends like radio are very rare. One of the initiators of this programme, Haimanti Roy, said that radio was a very close companion in childhood, even when she went on trips, she would have the radio with her.
