Metro Completes Chingrighata Girder Launching Work Ahead of Schedule
Kolkata, May 25, 2026: The girder launching work at Chingrighata crossing for the Kolkata Metro project was completed successfully at around 5:00 AM on Sunday, ahead of the scheduled timeline, officials said.
The work was carried out with active support and coordination from the Government of West Bengal, enabling the pending infrastructure activity to be completed smoothly over two consecutive weekends.
According to Metro authorities, extensive safety arrangements and traffic management measures were implemented during the execution of the work at the busy Chingrighata crossing along the Eastern Metropolitan (E.M.) Bypass.
Officials stated that the planned traffic block was lifted much earlier than scheduled following the successful completion of the girder launching operations, allowing normal vehicular movement to resume on the E.M. Bypass from 5:00 AM onwards.
