IIT Bhubaneswar Crosses 500 Campus Placements in 2025–26, Sets New Institutional Benchmark

Bhubaneswar, August 1: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar has achieved a significant milestone by recording more than 500 campus placements during the 2025–26 placement season, marking the highest placement tally in the institute’s history. The achievement reflects the institute’s growing industry recognition despite global economic uncertainties.
The placement season, which commenced in October 2025 and concluded in July 2026, witnessed participation from leading domestic and multinational companies representing a wide spectrum of sectors, including software, information technology, consulting, manufacturing, oil and gas, semiconductors, mining, and financial technology.
A diverse mix of public sector enterprises and private corporations recruited students from the institute. Major recruiters included BPCL, HPCL, Engineers India Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, GMDC, Reliance Industries, NVIDIA, Microsoft, Google, D. E. Shaw, Accenture, Cisco, Samsung R&D, Visa, Tata Steel, L&T, Maruti Suzuki, Applied Materials, HSBC, Skyroot Aerospace, Infosys, Tiger Analytics, and several other prominent organizations.
According to the institute, placement outcomes remained strong across academic programmes. More than 85 percent of undergraduate students secured employment offers, while 71 percent of postgraduate students were placed. The median annual salary reached ₹15.3 lakh for undergraduate students and ₹11.2 lakh for postgraduate students. In addition to domestic opportunities, several students also received international job offers, highlighting the institute’s expanding global footprint.
Commenting on the achievement, IIT Bhubaneswar Director Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar stated that the record placement season reflects the institute’s sustained emphasis on academic excellence, research-driven education, and strong collaboration with industry. He noted that the institute remains committed to preparing graduates capable of driving innovation and addressing complex technological and societal challenges through closer industry-academia partnerships.
Highlighting the overall placement performance, Dr. Srikant Gollapudi, Professor-in-Charge of the Career Development Cell, observed that the institute maintained robust placement outcomes despite evolving market conditions and the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence across industries. He expressed confidence that the positive momentum would continue into the 2026–27 placement season.
The latest placement figures reinforce IIT Bhubaneswar’s position as one of India’s emerging centres for engineering and technology education, with graduates increasingly attracting interest from top employers across both traditional industries and next-generation technology sectors.
