New Delhi, September 25, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday highlighted the progress of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, marking 12 years since its launch and pointing to its contribution to India’s expanding manufacturing, investment and export landscape.
The Prime Minister said the initiative has helped strengthen the idea of producing more goods within the country while encouraging greater investment and supporting India’s growing presence in international markets.
According to the Prime Minister, the impact of Make in India can now be seen across a wide range of sectors, reflecting a broader transformation in India’s production and investment ecosystem.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi summarised the journey with three key developments: increased production within India, higher investment in the country and expanding exports.
He wrote:
“More made in India.
More investment in India.
More exports from India.
A transformation visible across sectors!”
The Make in India initiative was launched in September 2014 with the objective of encouraging manufacturing, attracting investment, promoting innovation and strengthening India as a global production hub.
As the initiative completes its 12th year, the government continues to position domestic manufacturing and export expansion as important components of India’s economic development strategy.
The anniversary also provides an opportunity to assess how India’s manufacturing capabilities, investment environment and export performance have evolved over the past decade, particularly as the country seeks a larger role in global supply chains.
