India–Netherlands Business Forum explores opportunities in trade, technology, investment and supply chain cooperation following the India–EU Free Trade Agreement.

THE HAGUE, October 27, 2026: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held a series of high-level meetings in the Netherlands on October 26 to strengthen bilateral trade, attract investment and expand economic cooperation between the two countries.

During his visit, Goyal met Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Heleen Herbert, and North Holland King’s Commissioner Arthur van Dijk.

He also interacted with members of the Dutch House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation and the Senate Committee on European Affairs. Discussions covered bilateral economic relations, investment opportunities and the broader India–European Union partnership.

India–Netherlands Business Forum Draws 200 Participants

A major highlight was the India–Netherlands Business Forum, co-chaired by Goyal and Sjoerdsma, which brought together approximately 200 participants, including leading representatives of Indian and Dutch businesses.

The discussions focused on opportunities emerging from the India–EU Free Trade Agreement, particularly improved market access, expanded trade, investment partnerships and stronger supply chain integration between India and Europe.

Participants also explored ways to leverage the complementary strengths of the two economies through closer cooperation between businesses and industries.

Technology, Energy and Industrial Cooperation in Focus

As part of his industry outreach, Goyal held individual meetings with senior executives from Dutch companies operating in sectors including semiconductor technology, electronics, logistics, energy, industrial solutions, technology and retail.

He also participated in a roundtable with senior executives from 15 Dutch companies, organised by the Indian Embassy in The Hague in collaboration with HSBC Netherlands.

The discussions provided a platform to explore investment opportunities, commercial partnerships and closer private-sector engagement between India and the Netherlands.

Netherlands as a Gateway to European Markets

Interacting with the media, Goyal highlighted the growing momentum in India–Netherlands economic relations following the elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership and the conclusion of the India–EU Free Trade Agreement.

He emphasised the potential to expand trade, investment and technology cooperation, while underlining the Netherlands’ importance as a gateway for Indian businesses seeking access to European markets.

The engagements reflect India’s efforts to deepen economic ties with European partners and translate emerging trade opportunities into tangible business collaborations, investment flows and stronger industrial linkages.
